These pretty socks were named after a famous Yorkshire abbey that I love to visit with my family. The sock pattern is ideal for self-striping yarns, with a simple feather and fan panel on the sock front and back that creates pleasing undulation in the stripes. Extra knitting interest is provided by the unusual toe-up construction, with increases for the foot arch placed on the sole. The cuff is finished with an applied icord edging.

To fit up to 19(21½:24½)cm/7½(8½:9¾)” foot circumference with custom foot length.

Any 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn with approximately 400–450 metres per 100g. The socks pictured were knitted Wendy Happy in shade #2503 ‘Pisces’.

2.5mm/US 1½ needles for your preferred method of small diameter circular knitting. Adjust needle size as necessary to achieve the specified tension/gauge.

32 sts and 40 rounds per 10cm/4″ in stocking stitch/stockinette knitted in the round.
