Little Tyke is knitted from the bottom up, starting with the single colour rib. Although knitted in the round, the front and back of the tank top (US ‘vest’) have different stranded patterns. The armholes and front neck are steeked.
The pattern gives full written instructions for 4 sizes, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-5 years. Steeking instructions and charts for the colourwork patterns are also included.
Suggested needle sizes are 2.75mm/US 2 and 3.25/US 3. Tension/gauge is 28 stitches and 30 rows per 10cm/4″ in stranded pattern after blocking, knitted on the larger needles.
The pictured sample was made with Wensleydale DK from the Wensleydale Longwool Sheep Shop. This is a light dk, equivalent to a US sportweight.
The pattern is available in both A4 and Letter size formats, and all instructions include both US and UK knitting terminology. The pattern includes a full schematic showing metric and imperial measurements.
The pattern is also available in ‘Born & Bred’ (see ‘Books’).
